Resolved Question
Ladies! (or gentlemen interested in fashion) your help please?
hi,
could anyone please advise me. i am a 44 year old lady who is stuck in a complete fashion rut! i have recently lost over 2 stone in weight and i have to attend a very formal charity ball. could anyone advise me what colour /style of dress etc i should wear.(i am used to just dressing in anything that i can find to fit and am overwhelmed by the choice now available to me.)
i have natural dark red hair and naturally tanned skin, my eyes are a grey blue.
i have a large bust and small waist, hips the same width as my bust more or less. and i have 36 inch inside leg measurement so trousers are out...i can never find any long enough!
any help would be appreciated i am very nervous of attending so would like to look my best.
many thanks for all answers xxx

Congrats on your weight loss, although my only experience with British terminology is from Benny Hill, so I forget how much that is in pounds. Anyway, I think you should go all out for this-like even if you buy a dress, pay extra to have it tailored especially to your body. I've never been to a charity ball, but my sisters do in Boston, and you probably need a full-length dress. I personally think a green would like nice, or blue. I'd stay away from peaches and pinks. I am 45, and am not looking forward to showing my arms when the weather turns nice, so a cap sleeve might look nice if you can't get away with the one-shoulder look, which seems pretty fashionable right. Maybe a Pashmina wrap since it may be chilly. Have fun, you deserve it (I'm on a diet right now lol).

- Red, black or white would look great from the sounds of it. And maybe a peachy color.
- either a dark green or dark purple color. :)
- i definately think a green. the right shade of green would be great with your hair colour and natural tan.
you should try to find a long dress that flaunts your bust just right - don't show too much! you also want to embrace your small waist after your weight loss you want to show off your hot new body shape.
try some dress boutiques near you. i've found the assistants in small dress shops so much more helpful than in large department stores. you will get a more personal service in a small dress boutique. in the past assistants have closed up the upstairs store to help me in the downstairs area with fitting and choosing the right style of dress.
i hope you find the perfect dress - you'll know when you do! - and your evening is fabulous. :)
